Andy Dahmen, father of a son and daughter, grandfather to two; a member of the Heber Valley Rotary Club since 1994, and genuine nice guy, was honored with the prestigious Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service at the recent (virtual) 2019-20 District Conference. This citation honors a Rotarian, nominated by the District Governor – in this case DG John Hanrahan – who has been actively involved in service activities relating to The Rotary Foundation.
Currently serving as an Assistant Governor and also as a member of both the Grants Committee and the District Foundation Committee, Andy is a licensed Geological Engineer in Minnesota and Utah and who has worked as an engineer and project manager for many large construction-type projects. Currently, he works as a consultant, primarily in Wasatch County.
In his spare time, Andy “very much enjoys spending time with my family. I am what I would consider to be your typical Utahan. I love the outdoors and enjoy 4-wheeling, fishing, hunting and just being out in nature … and traveling when I can.
In 2005, while spending the day with his son, Andy had an accident on his mountain bike leaving him permanently paralyzed from his chest down. “I still get out a lot and ride a hand cycle in the summer and ski in the winter … just a little slower than I used to.”
